Bergen and Grieg city sightseeing
Bergen is a city full of history, culture and interesting architecture. On this sightseeing tour you will see and learn more about the capital of Western Norway.

This tour begins with departure from the bus stop vis-à-vis the Fish Market at 10:00am, view map. You travel by sightseeing bus through the city center where you will experience the famous and beloved places such as the Wharf, St. Mary's Church and the University.
The sightseeing tour continues on to Troldhaugen, which was Edward Grieg's home for 22 years. This beautiful villa is made of Grieg's cousin and architect Schak August Steenberg Bull. The style of the building is historicism and characterized by that it revived and imitated older style periods such as Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo. Troldhaugen is graced with a panoramic tower and a large veranda. It is said that Edward Grieg looked upon the building as "my best opus so far". At Troldhaugen you can participate on a guided tour with one of the museum guides. Language on the tour is in English, but you can also walk around by yourself and get information from German and Russian speaking guides.
The return journey takes you past the Gamlehaugen (the Old Hill) which is the official royal residence in Bergen. Gamlehaugen is a castle-like villa which was built for Christian Michelsen in the years 1900 to 1902. After the death of Michelsen the building was given to the state.
There is also a short stop at Fantoft Stavkirke (stave church). The original Fantoft stave church was built in Fortun in Sogn in 1150 and moved to Fantoft in 1883.The church was totally destroyed by fire June 6, 1992, has been rebuilt as it was before the fire. We would like to inform that the path down to the church is steep, and may not be suited for everyone.
From Fantoft the bus will take you back to Bergen where the sightseeing tour ends.
